What is a mothering room?
Mothering rooms, also known as lactation rooms, are private spaces where someone can express breastmilk while on campus. These spaces can be used by students, staff, faculty, and visitors.
In Mississippi, mothers have the right to breastfeed in any public or private location in which they are legally allowed to be. At Mississippi State, we support working mothers and are dedicated to providing safe and comfortable spaces for lactation. These rooms will be available from 8 am – 5 pm, Monday-Friday excluding special events and holidays.
The Colvard Student Union and the Cullis Wade Depot/Welcome Center will be available during most game day events on campus.
To have your ID registered to the Colvard Student Union and/or Cullis Wade Depot/Welcome Center locations, please send an email to mothering@msstate.edu.
